Hands-on Science
and Service Days: Spring and FallAssumption School participates each year in hands-on science and service at the Community Harvest Project which grows hundreds of thousands of pounds of fruits and vegetables each year to donate to food-insecure individuals and families in the Worcester County area of Massachusetts. Our students plant in the spring and harvest in the fall. Spring 2019 our students planted 37,000 servings of green and yellow beans, leeks, broccoli, and lettuce!

Partnering/Benefiting Organization
The Community Harvest Project is a non-profit farm that engages volunteers to grow fresh fruits and vegetables to provide to those experiencing hunger. Through our volunteer farming programs, education initiatives, and community partnerships, we bring thousands of community members together each year to improve access to healthy foods for individuals and families in need across Worcester County. We uses a neighbor-helping-neighbor approach, engaging volunteers to plant, tend, and harvest crops each season.
Here at CHP we are dedicated to building a healthy and engaged community through volunteer farming and nutrition education. In 2018, CHP engaged over 8,500 volunteers who helped us grow and donate over 440,000 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the Massachusetts hunger relief network.
